Your task
Dynamically managing value creation, being a strong joint venture partner and ensuring operational excellence and profitability
Your main task as Managing Director Operations (COO) (m/f/d) involves both leading and developing cutting-edge value-added processes, as well as jointly representing the interests, goals and values of our client in the joint venture. This includes the leadership and further development of the management team, including the establishment of a modern leadership culture as well as the future-oriented management and further development of the production, quality and purchasing processes. These processes must meet the required technological leadership, operational excellence, growth and earnings targets. This includes the ongoing standardization of processes and products, ensuring state-of-the-art production technology, digitization, reduction of throughput times, inventories and manufacturing costs, as well as the achievement of optimum delivery performance and productivity, and establishing an agile shop floor management system and implementing suitable KPIs in order to achieve the measurement and control necessary for transparency. You will lead the company and have responsibility for results together with a management colleague who is responsible for the commercial side, sales and development, and you will report to the company's advisory board. You will be based in a city of millions in south-eastern China.

Your profile
Entrepreneurial, persuasive, cross-culturally aware operations manager, with experience in Asia, who has a clear focus on results
You are university educated with a degree in technology (mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, ideally with a focus on manufacturing/production technology). You have several years of experience in Asia/China in a managerial position in a successful international manufacturing group of companies, ideally in the fields of mechanical engineering, component production, automotive supply, commercial vehicles, construction machinery/mobile equipment or their direct suppliers as production or operations manager with a focus on complex production, technically demanding products or drive components with the highest quality requirements. Thanks to your many years of managerial responsibility in China or related Asian cultures, you will have the necessary intercultural skills with an emphasis on Chinese/Asian work, leadership and business culture to successfully master this demanding task. Proven expertise and success in the field of production, production planning and control, quality, purchasing, supply chain and logistics will complete your profile. For this role, in-depth knowledge of the application of modern management and organizational methods will be essential, especially with regard to lean management, efficiency increases, automation, quality improvements and change projects. Knowledge of series production with the most modern and highly efficient production and assembly technology will also be an advantage. A willingness to travel that is appropriate to the task and business fluent English skills are prerequisites. Other foreign languages (Chinese, German) are desirable.
